Tencent 'hitches a ride' on DeepSeek's fast track, with Yuanbao making a comeback to second place
According to data from the Apple App Store, Tencent's large model, Yuanbao, surged from the top 100 on February 13th to second place on the China free app download list by February 22nd. It surpassed Doubao, coming in just behind DeepSeek, which has held the top spot for 25 days. Known for its typically low-key approach, Tencent has adopted an open stance by integrating DeepSeek and leveraging the WeChat ecosystem to drive a traffic boost. This has allowed the company to rapidly increase its user base and become a major beneficiary in the short term.
On February 13th, Yuanbao was fully integrated with the DeepSeek-R1 full version, addressing its computational power gap. From the 17th to the 19th, The Hunyuan T1 was fully launched. On the 18th, Yuanbao was integrated with WeChat Search, and on the 21st, a new multimodal image reading feature was added. Between the 17th and 21st, Tencent Cloud's AI code assistant and other tools were constantly integrated with DeepSeek, aiming to target the B2B market.
Previously, Yuanbao launched late and had a weak promotion, resulting in a lagging user base. In January, The structure was reorganized, with Wu Zurong, The head of Tencent Meeting, Taking charge. This past week, Tencent's key move was deeply integrating with WeChat Search. Tencent has leveraged DeepSeek to achieve a rapid increase in user numbers, but its long-term competitiveness will still rely on in-house development. Currently, Yuanbao has launched the Hunyuan T1 to accelerate the development of multimodal capabilities. 13日，元宝全量接入DeepSeek-R1满血版，补齐算力短板。17 - 19日，混元T1灰度上线再全量上线，18日元宝接入微信搜索，21日新增多模态读图功能。17 - 21日，腾讯云AI代码助手等工具密集接入DeepSeek，瞄准B端市场。
